The Weekly Sesh — Vol. 3
Every brand has an origin story. Ours has a gorilla. Before Gorgeous George ever showed up on a hoodie, there was a strain so sticky it gummed up scissors and so loud it took over dispensary menus across the country. This is the story of Gorilla Glue #4.
Born From a Happy Accident
Around 2012–2013, breeders at what became GG Strains were growing a Chem's Sister plant that turned hermaphrodite and pollinated a nearby Sour Dubb. In the grow world, that's usually a disaster — seeds where you wanted smooth, seedless flower. The seeds were nearly tossed.
Instead, they were grown out, and the fourth phenotype was the one that stopped everybody in their tracks. Pheno #4 became the keeper, and the number stuck.
The "Glue" part came from the trim room. The buds were so coated in resin that scissors gummed up like they'd been dipped in adhesive. The name practically wrote itself.
East Coast Funk Royalty
Look at that family tree: Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, Chocolate Diesel. That's the Chemdog and Sour Diesel bloodline colliding — some of the most influential genetics in cannabis history. GG#4 inherited the best of both: Chem's raw power and Diesel's unmistakable fuel-forward nose.
The Terp Breakdown
If you caught Vol. 2 on terpenes, here's where it gets fun. GG#4 is led by caryophyllene, the peppery terp that interacts directly with your body's CB2 receptors. Behind it, myrcene brings the earthy heaviness, limonene cuts through with a hint of citrus, and humulene adds woody, hoppy depth. Together they create that diesel-meets-chocolate-meets-coffee funk you can smell from across the room.
What It Feels Like
GG#4 opens with a wave of cerebral euphoria — mood up, worries down. Then it settles into deep, full-body relaxation. People reach for it to unwind after long days, take the edge off stress, or do absolutely nothing on purpose. Fair warning: the "glue" isn't just about the resin.
Why It Blew Up — and Stayed Up
- Trophies at the right time. GG#4 racked up Cannabis Cup wins in 2014, right as legalization was spreading. Perfect timing to become a household name.
- Resin for days. Its heavy trichome production made it a favorite for extract makers, so it showed up everywhere: flower, concentrates, vapes.
- A name that made headlines. In 2017 the adhesive company behind Gorilla Glue sued, and the breeders agreed to rebrand as GG4 and "Original Glue." The lawsuit only made it more legendary — the culture never stopped calling it GG#4.
- It grows like a champ. Hardy, productive genetics meant growers everywhere kept it in rotation, so it never disappeared from menus the way hype strains do.
Enter Gorgeous George
When we started Crazy Strains Tees, we needed a face for the brand — something loud, iconic, and unmistakably rooted in the culture. A gorilla built from the strain that defined a generation was the only answer. That's Gorgeous George: part mascot, part tribute to the strain that proved a happy accident can become a legend.
Just a guy with a dream and a sticky green gorilla. That's how it started.
Rep the strain. Wear the culture.
